Gwar Guitarist Found Dead

According to Rolling Stone, Gwar guitarist Cory Smoot (who performed the role of “Flattus Maximus”) was found dead by bandmates today as they prepared to cross the border into Canada.

Smoot joined Gwar in 2002, and had the longest tenure as Flattus Maximus. In reference to the remaining Gwar tour dates, front man Dave Brockie released the following statement:

“At this point we are just dealing with the loss of our dear friend and brother, one of the most talented guitarists in metal today.”

The cause of death has not yet been determined.
