These young lads are at an average age of 20 and they just kicked my ass! This is one of the most extreme, progressive, and mature metalcore albums I’ve enjoyed in quite some time. I dunno what it is about those crazy Christians but they sure know how to rock! Almost every Christian metal record I’ve heard is consistently freaking awesome. At The Throne Of Judgment is certainly no exception. Taking lyrical prompts from the likes of Iron Maiden and Nile, The Arcanum Order hammers away at ancient mythology in a relentless, brutal assault. My favorite track? “Horus Rises,” being the Egypt enthusiast that I am of course. Named after the ancient Egyptian god of the sky, it’s a continuously rampaging romp with a bloodthirsty cry of “rise!” The Arcanum Order pushes metalcore to its upper extremities and completely abandons any sappy emo breakup choruses that usually get my goat. At The Throne Of Judgment uses both low pitched death metal growls and high pitched black metal screams, which helps add diversity, intensity, and passion to their sound. I’m completely blown away that this is a debut and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
