On October 6, 2012, Nick Curran (The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Nick Curran & the Nitelifes, The Lowlifes) died at the age of 35. Curran was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2010, and though he was proclaimed cancer-free by June 2010, it returned in October 2011.

Curran played in a number of bands, including Deguello and The Lowlifes, and was also a member of blues rock band The Fabulous Thunderbirds, for whom he played guitar from 2005 to 2007.
