Released on CD by the Apers’ own Monster Zero Records in the Netherlands and on LP by Asian Man Records in California, this is the first time the band attempted to record their Screeching Weasel-esque catalog as a live album.
The band rented some equipment, drove to the El Dorado bar in Nordenham, Germany, and with the help of the local DIY punk kids laid down 16 tracks of sweaty, poppy punk goodness. The recording is actually quite amazing considering the conditions (a tiny bar with no PA and a pool table right smack dab in the middle). In fact this live album quality beats the hell out of many other DIY punk live albums I’ve heard over the past 20 years. So kudos to the engineers on this record, who were no doubt drunk and partying while manning the knobs and levers. The band even covered “Teenage Kicks” by the Undertones! Score! If you’re a fan of European pop-punk, this is a must have.
