Bassist and founding member of Detroit rock band MC5 Michael Davis has died of liver failure at the age of 68, his wife has announced. Davis died at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, California, on Friday following a month of treatment for liver disease.

Davis was part of the original MC5 line-up who rose to prominence in the 1960s and featured on their most famous track, 1969′s “Kick Out the Jams.” (via BBC)
