Your music sounds like?
We label ourselves as “Ska-ternative”. It’s ska mixed with rock and a plash of punk.

How did you discover music as a creative outlet?
Matty, Nate and Veg were at a bar about 5 years ago with a bunch of people. They all started talking about how they used to play music back in the day. Next thing you know, they formed the first version of this band. 5 years, 3 band names and a number of band members later, we have Stupid Flanders.

What’s the best part of being an independent musician, and how do you get the message out about your music and connect to fans?
There isn’t a “best” part about being independent. We have to book our own shows, we don’t get paid, we spend lots of money on making merch and gas. But we do get to play our music in front of friends. That’s what we love. We use MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, our website and just good old fashioned word of mouth to connect with fans.

What are you future musical projects and goals?
We would love to get paid for our music and go on tour. It doesn’t have to be a huge tour. Just something around California or the West Coast so we can say we actually did it.
