Primitive Weapons PRIMITIVE WEAPONS – S/TPrimitive Weapons debut recording is three tracks of hard-edged, noisy, post-hardcore complete with raw, throated vocals and full of dynamics that shift from sludgy to fast in a drop of the hat. Plus there is over all sense of darkness that pervades this, making it all the more menacing.

“Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons” opens up the activities with some grinding slow burn of bass and drums, while a guitarist noise skrees all over it, building tension until it explodes into the main riff, and then it just keeps the intensity there for its five minute duration. “Cosmic Horror” has more of noisy, angular guitar sound, but picks up the pace before it drops down into a churning mid-paced groove, ending in a wave of feedback. “Politics & Oblivion” adds a cleanly sung chorus to the mix to go with all the noise.

Through these three songs the band keeps it very intense and the quality very high. The only problem: it’s way too short. Hurry up and get a full-length recorded guys, because judging from this brief sample of tunes, I’m sure it will be killer.
