Barstool Conversations is a solid blend of folk chords crossed over with heartfelt lyrics and vocals delivered by Jeff Rowe combining parts of Chris Carrabba, early acoustic Against Me!, and bits of Jeff Tweedy. The whole album keeps a steady flow of acoustic folk ranging from harder-edged to near-ballads. “An Island’s Point of View” is the high point of the album, with incredibly emotive vocals and best lyrics on the album. The rest of the tracks are solid, but don’t stand out. They are all good singer-songwriter tracks, but don’t have any sort of dynamism behind them. What they do accomplish is a mellow groove that absorbs the listener with a marvelous vibe. Jeff Rowe can be proud of this album. It is a real good record with no low point and some great music.
