MARCHING BAND – Pop Cycle

reviewed by Garrett Lyons

marchingband MARCHING BAND Pop CycleMarching Band is a Swedish duo who puts together a brilliant style of atmospheric lo-fi pop. The sound takes cues from Wolf Parade, The Shins, and Yo La Tengo to make a stellar album filled with tightly-constructed songs, brilliant lo-fi vocals that are far more than a lyrical delivery service and brilliant arrays of multi-instrumental magic. The songs range from melodic pop with the stellar opener “Another Day” to the more frantic backbeat of  “Pink Elephant.” Everything Marching Band does on Pop Cycle works. It is all absolutely brilliant.
