SALLY SELTMANN – Heart That’s Pounding
Quiet whispers and schoolyard chants, innocence and simplicity — simply beautiful, that is. This sweet menagerie of inspiring ballads found me at just the right time. After a rough and busy week, I have been able to unwind and uplift under the influence of Sally Seltmann’s Heart That’s Pounding.
Seltmann has given us a little gem of a record in the form of a rich and soulful vocal dreamscape — more soothing than your own mother’s voice. Heart That’s Pounding echoes the same kind of warm and carefree tones heard from the likes of Ivy, maybe Regina Spector, and quite like Feist — the latter of which Seltmann can take songwriting credit for the 2007 single, “1234.” Sally Seltmann has actually been masquerading behind the scenes of pop music for several years under the name New Buffalo and produced a couple of nice albums under that name. Heart That’s Pounding is the personal breakthrough under Seltmann’s real name and true identity. It’s about time you owned it, Sally.
Undeniably, it’s the optimism that sells “Heart.” It makes it seem so effortlessly light and fluffy and, to be frank, it really does make your heart pound. It’s a tip of the hat to that feeling of hanging around a campfire with all of your best friends, rocking back and forth to that glowing feeling of a moment. The soundtrack of such a moment is Sally Seltmann’s Heart That’s Pounding.
