TITLE FIGHT – The Last Thing You Forget

reviewed by Craig Gilbert cd, music, vinyl | jackson | September 21, 2009 at 12:12 AM

The Last Thing You ForgetMelodic pop-core tunes here. You know how some listeners would hear a tune by, say, First To Leave or Fairweather or one of them bands and say, “Man, if they did more of that faster, slightly heavier stuff, I’d buy their disc/download their shit/wear their t-shirt.” These guys do that…for the most part. The disc is a compilation of all their released stuff; from singles, 7-inches, split releases, and some new material. Think along the lines of the first two Saves The Day records before Saves The Day discovered Ted Leo. There are a couple moments where Title Fight shine through, like on the track “Youreyeah” and they come off as almost another band. But then they delve back into the same old, same old, hitting the same marks and the same moments.

Bad? No. Quite solid actually, and sure to gel their fan base and snag some new converts as well. Kinda formulaic? Yup.
