ENVY ON THE COAST – S/T

envyonthecoast envyonthecoast 150x150 ENVY ON THE COAST S/TThis kind of sound could be popular with your Panic at the Disco crowd, full of catchy little hooks and overly breathy, whiny lead vocals. There are some nice musical transitions on “You Won’t Hear This” and the lead guitar is tight on a few intermittent solos, but this won’t get much rotation in my house. My girlfriend would make fun of me (rightfully so) and I’d have to question why the hell I’m not listening to more of my jazz records or the new Tom Waits album. This stuff sounds emotionally needy and confused, without the sex, strut, and swagger I hope for in a rock band. Are they having much fun? Do they care if they’re having fun? This is angst with volume, lacking anything distinctive to separate them from the other formulaic claptrap you’ll hear on Any Rock Station, USA.
